FAQs & Covid-19 Response

Covid-19 responseIn accordance with advice and guidance given, I'll be doing the following at every session:

- Wearing a mask or face covering
- All locations will be outdoors
- Using anti viral hand gel regularly
- Keeping 2m apart from clients
- Viewings will now all be online

Clients may wear face coverings if they wish but it's not required and will need to be removed for the images. I would ask that if anyone in your group has any of the symptoms of coronavirus that you let me know as early as possible so we can reschedule your session to a later date. If you’re worried about something and would like to talk about your session, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Questions about your session

What should we wear?

+

The main thing is to be comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing! It’s best to avoid detailed patterns or large pictures (eg kids tees with big character prints) because those are distracting in an image and can draw your eyes away from lovely smiles. One colour tops look great, eg one colour t-shirts or knitted jumpers but check shirts and simple patterns can look nice too. Try to make sure no one in your group is wearing a colour which clashes with the rest of the family. A spare outfit for young children can be a good idea.

Can the pictures just be of my children?

+

Of course! The session will be customised to your preferences and requirements. However, I would recommend coming prepared to get into one or two images, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, you don’t get to have professional family pictures often and you may regret not having a few of all the family, what’s the worst that could happen? If you don’t like any of the images you don’t have to choose them. Secondly, children (especially under 5s) will often feel more comfortable in front of the camera if a parent has been involved in the first few images.

Is there anything we should bring?

+

Don’t worry too much as I’ll bring everything essential. However, you may wish to include favourite toys or hats or props in some images, so have a think if there’s anything you’d like to capture. If there are little ones in your family you may also wish to bring some wet wipes just in case of any emergency clean ups! For pets, treats are always a good idea.

What if the weather is bad?

+

If it rains on the day of your session I will reschedule without any extra charge. Although it’s worth considering, it can be lovely to have a few rainy weather images if you’re willing to get the wellies and umbrellas out and have the little ones splashing in puddles! We will talk about what you’re most comfortable with beforehand.

What if we’re unwell?

+

I will of course be happy to reschedule if this happens, but if you can please let me know as far ahead of your appointment as possible.

What if my child misbehaves or is reluctant to take part?

+

Try not to worry too much! I’ll bring along something to distract little ones and most of the session will be very relaxed and natural. Toddlers particularly can have their moments during a photography session, its normal! No need to worry or feel embarrassed, I’m sure together we can make it fun and work past any shyness or “terrible twos”.

What makes a good location?

+

Locations can be a place of meaning to your family or they can be simply a beautiful setting. It’s always good if there’s a bit of variety in a session - Bute Park is a good example of this as you have trees, flower beds, the river, green open spaces and some great city backdrops all within walking distance. I am always happy to chat beforehand about any locations you’re considering and advise.
